Our weekend

The weekend was so nice. On Friday night, we didn’t do much. My mom had to pick Em up from daycare for me because that’s my late day at work. We hung at my parent’s for a bit, then headed home. They fed Em dinner, so I didn’t even need to cook. We watched some of “The Peanuts Movie”, had a snack, then Em had bath, then bed. I was tired, so went up to bed around 9pm.

On Saturday morning, I went on a major cleaning spree. I moved all of the toys from the living room up into Em’s bedroom. I never let him play in his room before. That room was just for sleep purposes even though I did decorate it cute. I decided to just go for it. I was deathly afraid that it would ruin his bed and nap time because he’d know all of those toys were in there and he’d get up to play. That held true on Saturday afternoon and at bedtime last night. I was firm with him though, and he went to sleep. It’s amazing not having all of those toys littering my living room. We have two totes downstairs and the trampoline. That’s it. It feels so much less cluttered, which makes me happy. I think Em likes the option of having more spaces to play in too.  I think it kept him from getting too bored in the house too. The morning flew by.

In the afternoon, we headed out to a fall fest, which was an hour north of our house. We had such a great time. Em played in the hay maze, we did a hay ride, and we also got to hang with a ton of animals in the petting zoo. Everything was FREE, which made it even better. The weather was absolutely gorgeous too. We didn’t get home until almost 4pm. Em had no nap, so he was pretty cranky. I tried  to lay him down, but he wasn’t having it. We ended up having an early dinner. Afterwards, I made popcorn and hot chocolate to have while we watched “The Peanuts Movie”.  I let Em stay up a little later than usual.

Sunday was a lazy day for us. Lots of movies, yard time, and toy time. We did venture out to visit my parents and sister after nap, but that was the extent of it. Spending $0 all weekend was great though. We need a lot more of days like that. Unfortunately, we have a ton of things planned for fall. This upcoming week, we have soccer on Wednesday, Applefest at daycare on Friday, then we’re doing the pumpkin patch this weekend. Not too bad, but the pumpkin patch is $13 for me to get in and $8 for Em. I’m sure we’ll end up purchasing a snack while we’re there too. I’ll guestimate about $30.00 will be spent at the farm.

Em and I both have colds right now and it sucks. He has a runny/stuffy nose and a couch. I have a sore throat and achiness. I’m hoping it’s just from the weather change and nothing too serious. Both of us have flu shots coming up, but I’m considering skipping. I feel like we get sick right after we get them anyway. I’m not sure if I should risk not getting it though. Either way, I feel like we’re going to get something regardless. I’ll need to think about this some more.

Alright, I hope you all have a fabulous week!

Whew

Soccer was just as crazy last night, but better in a sense. I wasn’t so burnt out by him, so I was ready to battle, and boy, did I battle! He was flopping onto the grass, throwing himself down, and running off like a mad little person in between drills. All of the kids were being pretty crazy though, so I didn’t feel as bad. He did well with the activities Coach Matt (same coach as Saturday sessions) set up, so that made me happy. We have five more weeks to get through. I hope through all of this craziness, he’s learning something and retains anything that his coach is teaching him.  I was proud of him though for sticking through the entire thing even after having to be given a few time-outs for being overly disruptive. He was so hot and tired by the time we left the field. I loaded him up with snacks and water for the drive home. We didn’t get home that much later. It was 6pm when we rolled in the door. I made a quick dinner, we ate, hung out, then Em had bath, and bedtime around 7:30pm. He was beat and so was I. I ended up heading up to bed around 9pm.  The best part is we’re done for the week. We don’t have to interrupt our weekend now with soccer craziness. I should have done this from the get go. Lesson learned!

Tonight, my nephew has his very first school dance, so we’re going to head over after I pick Emerson up from daycare. How crazy is that? I can’t believe he’s in 7th grade. Where the heck has the time gone? I suppose I’ll be saying that about Emerson before I know it. I’m sure he’ll wonder why we’re making such a big deal over this, but it’s a pretty big milestone in my eyes. His first dance! I asked him if he had a date and he laughed at me. I’m going to take that as a “No”, but I’m sure he’s scoping someone out. He is at that age. Too funny.

This Saturday, we’re heading over to “Truck Day” in a neighboring community. Emerson loves trucks of all kinds, so I thought that would be cute. I’m not sure what they’ll all have, but it’s something to do that we can swing by and check out. Other than that, we don’t have much planned. I want to lay low for a while, so that I can save every last penny for us to be able to do a lot of fall stuff. There is also a fall fest on Saturday that I’d like to go to.  It only runs 11-3pm and isn’t located anywhere near Truck day, so I don’t know that we’ll even get to do both. I guess we’ll see how truck day pans out first. If we aren’t there very long, we can always head over to the fall fest for a bit.

That’s about it for the weekend. Nothing too exciting, but I’m okay with that! Have a super day, all!

I'm still here!

I have not written in forever. Sorry! I’ve been so busy that the time has gotten away from me. We’ve done a lot over the last few weeks.  We went to a pretty cool park and an indoor swimming facility on Monday when we were off for the day. We went to the amusement park over the weekend with my sister and nephew. We also celebrated my sister’s birthday and attended a bon-fire at her house on Saturday night. Additionally, my sister and I had massages to celebrate her birthday as a gift from me on Friday. I took a half day, so we could hang out without the kiddos.  We’ve been so busy! Em and I also had a little fire in our yard on Sunday night. It was adorable. I cleaned out his pool, then filled it up with a ton of soft blankets, so we could hang out. I also bought a ton of glow sticks and ingredients for smores. Adorable! Outside of that, we’ve just been playing at home in the yard a lot.

Soccer is going just okay. We’ve had two sessions so far and Em’s focus just isn’t there. We’re signed up for Saturday mornings, but I changed our schedule over to Wednesday nights at 5. I’m hoping after being at daycare all day, he has less energy when soccer starts. He is so crazy, unfocused, and energetic on Saturday mornings. I’m hoping this is the fix we need. We ended up leaving early on Saturday morning. He was just so rambunctious and disruptive.  Can everyone say a prayer that this schedule adjustment is what he needs. I have high hopes for soccer and I like that he’s involved. I suppose that we can try some other activities too if this doesn’t pan out. The good news is his preschool/daycare has a soccer program, so when he transitions to preschool in the spring, we can enroll him in the soccer program too. It’s a 2fer!

He has been extra difficult for me lately. Not listening at all, and extremely testing my patience. I’m hoping this is just a phase. It’s driving me bonkers. I’m trying to just roll with it, correct him, and set reasonable boundaries with consequences when he misbehaves, but that’s all easier said than done. My sanity has been at stake for the past few weeks. He was good last night though with very little issue, so that was nice for a change. This stage is certainly a tricky one though!

How is mom? I’m good. Nothing crazy to report, which is how I like it. Trying to plan financially for all of these upcoming holidays is enough to drive me batty. Being able to do activities, have costumes, presents, etc is insane. We’re doing a ton of free stuff which is nice, but even still, there are some activities that cost money that I want us to be able to do as well. Em still needs a Halloween costume too. He’s going to be a minion because he’s obsessed with Despicable Me, and he is also going to be a lumberjack. We already have a plaid shirt and jeans for that. We just need boots, hat, axe, and some face paint for a beard. Pretty simple. We’re doing trick or treating on Halloween, at the zoo, the Halloween parade, and once at the mall, so having two costumes will help switch it up some.  I’m sure I can find a third one for $5 at Once upon a child to mix it up even more. There are so many October events coming up! I’m excited. We’re playing it cool these next couple of weeks though. I want to save as much money as possible.

Other than that, we’re just chugging along. I’m having a little fall get together in a few weeks. We’re doing some pumpkin decorating, having a fire, smores, walking tacos, and some games. It’ll be cute and I’m excited about it! Em has his very first dentist appointment on October 4TH. I’m taking him and my nephew at the same time, so I’m hoping that’ll ease his mind a bit and make it go smoother. At least that is my hope. I’ll let you all know how that goes. I hope we get a good report. I am pretty diligent about brushing his teeth. He doesn’t always let me do a really good job, but I get it done.

Alright, all. have a super, happy Wednesday!

It's been awhile

haven’t updated in so long. I’ve just been super busy and haven’t had a chance. We are doing well. This past weekend was the first weekend with all of the pools and the waterpark closed for the season. We barely did anything at all. Emerson had his first day of soccer, which I’ll talk about later, we visited my parents, and played in the backyard, but that was about it. It was a pretty lazy and chill weekend. Sometimes, it’s good to throw those in here and there even if it was boring.

Soccer went well on Saturday. Em did run down field a few times and was a bit rowdy in between drills, but he did well overall. He did all of the drills with no issue when his coach instructed the group, so I was proud of him for that. I just wish he had  a bit more focus. I’m hoping that happens over time. Being the only parent who had to chase their kid was embarrassing though. He looks super cute in his soccer uniform. We’ll see how things progress. It is pretty cool though and I’m excited that he’s involved in a team sport.

This week, I have a half day on Friday. My sister and I are getting massages for her birthday. Afterward, I’m going to take some toys over to once upon a child to see what I can get for them. I’ve been selling some of Em’s toys here and there to save up for Christmas. I do have some other things that need to go and it’ll be easier for me to just take them all at once to once upon a child and sell in bulk. On Saturday, we’re going to the amusement park for my sister’s work picnic. Hopefully it doesn’t rain. I’m super excited though! On Saturday night, she’s having a little party and fire at her house. Emerson and I will go for a bit. There are going to be other kids there too, so that should hold his interest enough. Sunday, I don’t think we have any plans at all. Her actual birthday is on Monday, so I’m sure we’ll do a birthday dinner then for her. It’ll be a fun weekend. Emerson had some crusty crap in his eye this morning, a cough, and runny nose. I definitely think he’s getting a cold. I just hope he’s okay because he’s going to daycare on Friday. I don’t want my sister’s birthday gift to be ruined. Say a major prayer, okay?!

My new job is bananas. I’m so busy all of the time and trying to learn everything. It’s definitely been a challenge, but I am enjoying it. I just wish that I knew everything already. I’m used to being the guru. It’s hard being low man on the totem pole. Let’s hope I can catch on quickly.  So far, I am, but it isn’t going as fast as I had hoped.  Alright, back to the grind. Have a good week!
